The butterfly is well captured to show off its camouflage, not against the green leaf (although, maybe if you can only see blue-yellow like Seonaid's bees...), but it's really hard to see the body of the thing and which way it's facing.
I love the American cops - and there's me thinking they only looked lke that in movies. I like the way you've got the massive truck in the background and I like the framing. If you took this in Britain you would almost certainly be stopped (legislation brought in a few years ago makes it an offence to photograph police. It came off the back of the police being photographed doing things they shouldn't. Great, eh?) and there's no way the group of police would look so relaxed.
The over saturated grass and mushrooms is pleasing somehow.
I love the men jumping. You've captured the movement. I might have cropped out the white van on the far left, but I realise you wanted his feet in. I like the first photo best in terms of composition, although it's a shame about the drummer (shorter depth of field may have helped).
Did you blue up the frost on the dog? I find it a bit too zingy now.
Love the fost on the car window - such great contrast. I think the colour is nice, too. It's a familiar, recognisable thing but you've stopped to help us see it differently. The window makes a good frame.
Rugby action shot and the elephant is beautifully framed.
Thanks for sharing. Hope to see you at class tonight?
Nice to have you back. I agree with Rich about the frost on the car. The patern is so even that it looks as though it has been over laid. Beautifully observed. And I love your motion pictures - they really capture all the energy, the somersaulting athlete. You certainly captured the moment there - as you did with the boys playing rugby - and the father on the side in their jackets! Lovely.
Hi Genna, This is a great set of photographs. I find the B&Ws of the lady behind the door and the man jumping really interesting and well composed. It give me a feeling of life and spontaneity, leaving space for the imagination to take over.
Thank you for the comments! Most of these I don't consider to be technically good photographs, but I chose them more for the feel and (in some) the sense of fun. I chose a group of photos that, I hope, are all different; in colour, composition, theme etc. as I am still very much exploring what photography interests me most.
I'm not as tech savvy as a few of you sound (judging on previous JPEG & raw posts) and quite a few of the photos have changed in colour/quality whilst uploading to the blog. A few personal favourites, that I tried to upload, ended up being disregarded as they went some very odd shades?
I promised I'd post this and then lost it. But your colours changing is due to Google's "auto enhance" feature. Ahem.
If you go to: https://plus.google.com/u/0/settings then scroll down the page and you should find a section on Auto Enhance. Mine was defaulted to "On.". You can turn it off there, and then you can go to your photos at https://plus.google.com/u/0/photos select all and remove the auto-enhancement. Annoying, isn't it!
Wow, Genna, you have such talent!

ReplyDeleteI found the frost on the window and the police really stand out for me because of the composition of both of the shots.
