Week 1-Genna

  1. Wow Genna I love these! I like the spot-lit egg timer for its simplicity/focus. 50 photos before it runs out? ;-)

The vignette on the wood pile makes it look like it has a secret, sinister even, purpose.

The stretched shadows of the fence divide the image up really nicely and I like the way that the centre front shadow frames the lightest part of the wooden floor.

The dog is amazing - what's all over it? Looks like frost or snow (where do you live?!). Didn't even see it was a dog at first.

The penultimate one is interesting - what bright edges to the petals. But I like the noise/leaf detail on this one which says something about the plant's age.

  2. The sands of time are very interesting as you get the sense of motion and there is a slight bit of motion blur on the granules falling.

The shadows with the blue hue to them give the feeling of a cool Moroccan night.

The second from last picture of the flower looks very strange in the way it’s lit, it looks like the pictures have been taken with an electron microscope (I am assuming you don’t have one of these at home).

  3. This is a very striking group of photos. I think it is because they are so close up and very single subject and so you have got away from any confusion. I was very aware of the background which Keith mentioned, when I was taking mine - there always seemed to be a distracting bit of dust or peeling paint in the way!.

The sempervivum is strong and bold as is the hand with the marked light and shade. The rose has lovely texture.
